Study Scripture:
No-one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs – he wants to please his commanding officer.
- 2 Timothy 2:4 (NIV)
The training of Obedience is a Spirit-motivated training. You cannot be sacrificial in your service to God until the Spirit of Obedience is manifest in you. The Holy Spirit is the instructor in this training and as long as you yield to His leading, you will keep making progress in life. Just like there is a Spirit of Obedience, there is also the spirit of disobedience which yields only to destruction (Ephesians 2:1-2). As soldiers in this training, we must be obedient to the truth (Galatians 5:7). You’re receiving grace today in Jesus name. Amen
If you must be outstanding, then the spirit of obedience must be at work in you. A typical example of a life that succeeded outstandingly by obeying God is Abraham. Abraham obeyed God all the days of his life and he became the father of many nations, an icon of prosperity and blessing. Another example is the woman whom the Prophet Elijah asked to cook the only meal she had left for him. She obeyed him even though it was her last meal and she had planned to eat it with her son and die. After she obeyed the prophet, she never lacked food again (1 Kings 17:16).
Why this Training of The Spirit of Obedience?
- It is difficult to receive instructions without it
- It is difficult to interpret instructions accurately without it
- It is difficult to adhere to instructions without it
