KINGDOM LIFESTYLES FOR FINISHING STRONG – THE DEEP-ROOTED LIFESTYLE

Study Scripture Luke9:23, Heb12:1-4

BUT THERE IS NO SOIL OF CHARACTER, AND SO WHEN THE EMOTIONS WEAR OFF AND SOME DIFFICULTY ARRIVES, THERE IS NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT. (MSG) Matthew 13:21

I heard the story of a pastor who was asking God for the rent for his church and received an alert of #950, 000 instead of #150, 000. He was overexcited and in less than 24 hours he had already burnt #500, 000. The woman who paid in the money came asking for the money as it was not her intention to send such a huge amount. On realizing that the pastor has spent bulk of the money, the woman involved the police. The situation proved that the pastor lost his personality before money, the police and the woman as he didn’t bother to confirm the source of payment before spending the money. It then follows that the pastor was not deeply rooted in his convictions.

The scripture in Mathew 13:20-21 explains that difficult situations we face come to try the word of God we have received. That bankruptcy, academic failure, delayed marriage, absence of business contracts are there to try the word of faith and promises of God you have received. Until you are deeply rooted in your convictions, circumstances can sweep your feet off Christ. Receive grace to stay rooted in Christ!

The relevance of the deep-rooted lifestyle

  1. Shallowness is the beginning of a life of failure and backsliding
  2. Shallow living makes the believer a cheap prey to compromise
  3. Shallow living creates in the heart of the believer alternative to the truth
  4. Shallow living compels the believer to throw caution into the wind
  5. The deep-rooted lifestyle is what preserves the believer from being blown off by winds of doctrine
  6. The deep-rooted lifestyle is the strength and ability of the believer when what he believes is under attack
